SSC CHSL 2026 Application Process Begins



The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has launched the online application process for the Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination (CHSL) 2026. This recruitment initiative aims to fill approximately 2,536 vacancies. This is a significant opportunity for individuals who have completed Class 12 and are seeking government employment. The application window opened on September 7, 2026, and will remain open until October 7, 2026.


Available Positions

The SSC CHSL 2026 recruitment will focus on filling positions for Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), and Data Entry Operator (DEO). The exact number of vacancies for each post and category will be detailed on the SSC website in due course.


Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have completed Class 12 from a recognized educational board to qualify for the LDC-JSA and most DEO roles. For DEO and DEO Grade A positions in specific ministries, candidates should have studied Mathematics in their Class 12 Science curriculum. Those who have taken the Class 12 exam but have not yet received their results can also apply, provided they meet the qualifications by the application deadline.


Age Requirements and Salary Structure

Applicants must be aged between 18 and 27 years. This means individuals born before August 2, 1999, or after August 1, 2008, are not eligible. Age relaxation will be provided for candidates from reserved categories as per government norms. Selected candidates will receive salaries based on the 7th Central Pay Commission's recommendations. For LDC-JSA roles, the salary will range from ₹19,900 to ₹63,200 (Pay Level-2). DEO positions will offer salaries between ₹25,500 and ₹81,100 for Level-4 and ₹29,200 to ₹92,300 for Pay Level-5. DEO Grade A roles will have a salary range of ₹25,500 to ₹81,100 under Pay Level-4.


Selection Process Overview

The selection of candidates will occur in two stages: Tier-1 and Tier-2 computer-based examinations. Tier-1 will assess candidates on English, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness, with a penalty of 0.50 marks for incorrect answers. Tier-2 will include various sections, such as a Computer Knowledge Test and a Skill or Typing Test, depending on the position. Both parts of Tier-2 will be conducted on the same day.
