Essential Tips for UP Board Students to Excel in English Exams
Preparation Strategies for Upcoming UP Board Exams
As the high school and intermediate examinations conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education draw near, students are increasingly feeling the pressure, particularly those studying English. With the exam dates approaching, many are uncertain about their last-minute preparation strategies and how to achieve high scores.
Pratibha Rakesh, an English lecturer at Arya Kanya Inter College, has provided valuable advice for students.
1. Prioritize Short Answers and Summaries
According to Pratibha Rakesh, students should focus on mastering short answers rather than trying to memorize lengthy responses. A thorough understanding of short questions in English is essential. Instead of rote learning long answers, grasp their summaries. A solid grasp of short answers will enable students to construct long answers more effectively.
2. Provide Precise Answers in Unseen Passages
When tackling unseen passages, it is crucial to avoid including irrelevant details. Students should aim to provide precise and concise answers, responding only to what the question requires. This approach not only saves time but also enhances the likelihood of achieving higher marks.
3. Emphasize Handwriting and Vocabulary
Legible handwriting and accurate word meanings are vital in English examinations. Clear and comprehensible responses can positively influence the examiner's assessment, thereby improving the chances of securing better grades.
4. Follow the Question Order
Rakesh advises students to tackle the question paper sequentially. Many students mistakenly start with questions numbered 10 or 12, neglecting the earlier ones. It is advisable to address questions 1 through 12 or 13 first. If a question is left unanswered, it can be revisited later. This method keeps the answer sheet organized and creates a favorable impression on the examiner.
5. Stay Calm and Use Smart Strategies
In the final days leading up to the exams, it is crucial to remain calm and implement effective strategies instead of succumbing to panic. Focusing on short answers, understanding summaries, maintaining clear handwriting, and answering questions in order can significantly contribute to achieving good marks in English.
