Parents eagerly anticipating nursery, KG, and first-grade admissions in Delhi's private schools will be pleased to know that the admission timeline for the academic year 2026-27 has been officially released. The process will encompass over 1,700 private institutions in the capital, adhering to established guidelines.
The Directorate of Education has emphasized that the admission procedure will be entirely transparent, ensuring that parents can trust the fairness of the selection process. All critical dates, from application submissions to the announcement of selected candidates, have been set, allowing families ample time to prepare.
Admission Timeline
Start of Admissions:
The application window for the 2026-27 academic year will open on December 4th. Parents can submit their child's admission forms for nursery, KG, or first grade until December 27th. This year, the application process will be available both online and offline, facilitating easier access for all.
Release of Selection Lists:
Schools will publish the first list of selected candidates on January 23rd, 2026. This list will include a waiting list and the scores assigned to each child. Parents facing any issues can lodge complaints from January 24th to February 3rd. A second list will be made available on February 9th, with a resolution period from February 10th to 16th. If needed, schools may also issue an additional list on March 5th, with the entire admission process concluding by March 19th, 2026. The same regulations will apply to the 75% of seats allocated for the general category, while 25% of seats are reserved for economically weaker sections (EWS), with separate guidelines to be announced shortly.
Fees and Documentation Requirements
Registration Fees:
Schools are permitted to charge a nominal registration fee of ₹25. It is important to note that purchasing a prospectus is optional. The selection process will be conducted transparently, either through a computerized system or in the presence of parents. Schools will notify parents about the draw at least two days in advance via their website, notice boards, and email.
Address Verification:
To verify residency, parents must provide one of the following documents: a ration card in the parent's name, a domicile certificate in the child's or parent's name, a parent's voter ID, utility bills (electricity, water, or telephone), the child's passport, or an Aadhaar card in the parent's name.
