CBSE Introduces Alternative Assessment for Class 12 Students in West Asia

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched an alternative assessment system for Class 12 students in select West Asian countries. This initiative aims to address the challenges of conducting examinations in these regions, ensuring that students receive their results promptly. The new system categorizes students based on their examination participation and employs a school-based assessment method for those who missed certain papers. Schools are tasked with compiling academic records accurately, while students and parents are advised to stay informed about the assessment process. This move is designed to safeguard students' academic progress during these challenging times.
 

New Assessment System for Class 12 Students



Overview: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a new assessment framework for Class 12 students residing in specific countries in West Asia. This initiative is designed to address the challenges faced in conducting examinations in these areas, ensuring timely release of student results.


Applicable Countries:
This assessment system will be implemented for students in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.


Result Preparation Method:
Students will be categorized based on the number of exams they have taken. Those who have completed all subject exams will have their results calculated using standard procedures based on their Board exam scores. For students who missed certain papers, a school-based assessment approach will be utilized.


School-Based Assessment Details:
For students unable to take all exams, their scores from school-administered tests—such as quarterly, half-yearly, and pre-board exams—will be compiled. In subjects with a theory component of 70 or 80 marks, the highest score from these tests will be factored into the final result. For subjects with a theory component of 60, 50, or 30 marks, only the final pre-board exam score will be considered. If a student did not take the final pre-board, the score from the previous pre-board will be used.


Practical exam scores and internal assessments will be included in the final results as per the previous year's methodology.


Schools' Responsibilities:
Schools are crucial in this process, tasked with accurately compiling all internal assessments, practical scores, and academic records. CBSE has instructed schools to carry out this process with full transparency and diligence.

Students and their parents are encouraged to maintain regular communication with their schools and stay updated on the assessment process and results. This initiative by CBSE aims to ensure that students' academic progress is not hindered and that they receive their results on time.
