UP Board Compartment Exam 2026: Students who did not pass or received low scores in the 2026 High School and Intermediate exams conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UP Board) have received positive news. The Board has unveiled the complete schedule and guidelines for the Class 10 Improvement and Compartment exams, as well as the Class 12 Compartment exam. Those wishing to enhance their scores or pass failed subjects can apply online starting June 8, 2026, via the official website.

Application Deadline and Important Instructions

The last date to submit applications for the UP Board Compartment and Improvement exams is June 27, 2026, at midnight. An official notification from UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh emphasizes the importance of adhering to the fee payment rules during the application process. Eligible students must ensure timely submission of their forms to participate in the exams. Below are the details regarding the application process, fees, and new regulations set by the Board.

High School Exam Rules and Fees

Board Rules and Fees for High School:
Students taking the UP Board High School examination have two options: Improvement and Compartment. Under the Improvement exam, a student can retake the exam for any one subject they failed. Meanwhile, for the Compartment exam, if a student has failed in two subjects, they are eligible to appear for the exam in only one of those subjects. The examination fee for the UP Board High School Exam 2026 has been set at ₹256.50.

Intermediate (Class 12) Guidelines

What are the guidelines for Intermediate (Class 12)?
The Board has also issued clear guidelines for the UP Board Class 12 (Intermediate) Compartment examination. Students from the Arts, Science, and Commerce streams are eligible to take the exam for a single subject. Students of Agriculture Parts 1 and 2 are also eligible to apply for one question paper from the prescribed subjects. Additionally, students from the Vocational Stream who have failed in one trade subject paper are also eligible. The examination fee for the Intermediate level has been fixed at ₹306.

Challan Submission Process

**Challan Must Be Sent via Post After Submitting Online Form**
This time, students are required to deposit the examination fee not directly online, but through a challan at a Government Treasury. To facilitate the fee deposit via challan, the Board has designated a specific standard head of account:

Challan Code: 0202 Education, Sports, Art, and Culture ➔ 01 General Education ➔ 102 Secondary Education ➔ 02 Fees for Board Examinations ➔ 09 Compartment/Improvement Examination and Marks Fee.

After depositing the fee, students must obtain the original copy of the challan and download a printout of the online-filled application form. It is mandatory to send these documents via Registered Post to the concerned Regional Office of the UP Board within three days of the application deadline (June 27)—that is, by June 30, 2026.

Examination Rules for Written and Practical Components

**Essential Rules for Written and Practical Examinations**
If a student has failed in both the Theory (written) and Practical/Project (experimental/internal assessment) components, they must retake the examination for both parts. However, if a student has failed in only one component (e.g., the Practical part) but has passed the Written examination, they may choose to retake only the failed component, or, if they wish, they may appear for both components again. The dates for these examinations will be announced shortly by the UP Board through a separate official notification.
