UP Board Compartment Exam 2026: Schedule and Guidelines Released
UP Board Compartment Exam 2026 Overview
UP Board Compartment Exam 2026: Students who did not pass or received low marks in the 2026 High School and Intermediate exams conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (UPMSP) have received positive news. The UP Board has announced the full schedule and guidelines for the Class 10 Improvement and Compartment exams, along with the Class 12 Compartment exams. Those looking to enhance their scores or save their academic year by passing failed subjects can apply online starting June 8, 2026, through the official UP Board website.
Application Deadline and Important Instructions
The last date to submit applications for the UP Board Compartment and Improvement exams is set for midnight on June 27, 2026. An official notification from UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh emphasizes the importance of adhering to the application process and the specific rules regarding fee submission this year. Eligible students must ensure timely completion of their application forms.
Guidelines and Fees for High School (Class 10)
Students taking the UP Board High School examination have two options: Improvement and Compartment. Under the Improvement scheme, a student can retake the exam in one subject where they failed. In contrast, for the Compartment scheme, if a student fails in two subjects, they can only appear for one of those subjects. The examination fee for the High School exams in 2026 is set at ₹256.50.
Intermediate (Class 12) Examination Guidelines
The Board has also provided clear guidelines for Class 12 (Intermediate) students regarding the Compartment examination. Students from Arts, Science, and Commerce streams can appear for one subject. Additionally, Agriculture students can apply for one question paper from their prescribed subjects, and Vocational Stream students can retake one trade subject paper. The examination fee for Intermediate students is ₹306.
Fee Submission Process
This year, students must deposit their examination fees through a challan at a Government Treasury rather than online. The designated standard head of account for fee deposits is:
Challan Code: 0202 Education, Sports, Art, and Culture ➔ 01 General Education ➔ 102 Secondary Education ➔ 02 Fees for Board Examinations ➔ 09 Compartment/Improvement Examination and Marks Fee.
After paying the fee, students must obtain the original challan copy and download a printout of their online application form. These documents must be sent via Registered Post to the relevant Regional Office of the UP Board within three days of the application deadline, specifically by June 30, 2026.
Examination Rules for Written and Practical Components
If a student fails both the Theory (written) and Practical/Project (experimental/internal assessment) components, they must retake both parts. However, if they pass the Written exam but fail the Practical component, they can choose to retake only the failed part or both components. The UP Board will announce the examination dates soon through a separate official notification.
