Understanding the CBSE Answer Sheet Evaluation Process and Teacher Compensation
Overview of CBSE Answer Sheet Evaluation
The evaluation of answer sheets for the CBSE board is conducted exclusively by teachers designated by the board. Initially, schools compile a list of their qualified and experienced educators, which is then submitted to CBSE for verification.
Preparation for CBSE Board Exams
As the CBSE board exams approach, students are actively preparing. A common concern among them is regarding the evaluation process of their answer sheets and the remuneration teachers receive for this task. The checking process, whether for CBSE or UP Board, is highly confidential and governed by strict regulations.
Who is Responsible for Checking CBSE Answer Sheets?
Only teachers appointed by the CBSE are authorized to check answer sheets. After schools submit their lists, the board verifies and assigns qualified teachers for this responsibility. The evaluation team consists of various roles, including a head examiner who oversees the entire process, assistant examiners who evaluate the answer sheets, and scrutinizers who review the awarded marks and rectify any discrepancies.
The Copy Checking Process
The CBSE ensures a transparent and regulated copy checking process. Each answer sheet is marked with a confidential code, concealing the student's identity. The evaluation centers maintain strict confidentiality, and in some instances, digital marking is employed by scanning the answer sheets. Examiners familiarize themselves with the marking scheme before beginning their evaluations, and the chief examiner guarantees fair treatment for all students.
Compensation for Teachers Checking CBSE Copies
Reports indicate that CBSE compensates teachers with 25 rupees for evaluating a 10th-grade exam copy and 30 rupees for a 12th-grade exam copy. Additionally, teachers receive a travel allowance of 250 rupees and a meal allowance of 75 rupees.
UP Board Teacher Compensation
The UP government has recently increased the pay for principals, teachers, and staff involved in examination and evaluation centers, effective from the 2025-26 academic year. Under the new guidelines, the center administrator will earn 200 rupees daily, while room in-charges will receive 100 rupees per day. Clerks will be compensated 40 rupees per shift, and bundle carriers will earn 20 rupees per shift. Furthermore, the Chief Controller and Deputy Controller of Evaluation Centers will now receive 8 rupees per examiner, an increase from the previous 6 rupees, while Assistant Deputy Controllers will earn 7 rupees per examiner, up from 5 rupees.
