Major Expansion in Teacher Education Opportunities
Students nationwide aiming for teaching careers have received encouraging news. There has been a substantial rise in the number of seats for the four-year Integrated B.Ed. program, allowing more students to pursue this educational path. This course will now be offered at numerous prestigious institutions across the country, significantly increasing the opportunities available to aspiring teachers.
Record Increase in Seats
This year, the seats available in the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) have surged by over 350%. The previous count of 6,100 seats has escalated to 22,950, greatly enhancing the chances for students to gain admission.
Expansion of Institutions Offering the Course
The course, which was once limited to a few colleges, is now being introduced in 285 institutions. In 2025, it was available in only 77 colleges, marking a significant growth in educational opportunities. This initiative is seen as a vital move to bolster the education system in the country.
Access to Premier Institutions
Students can now enroll in this program at some of the most esteemed institutions, including IITs, NITs, Central Universities, and top colleges affiliated with the University of Delhi. Notable institutions offering this course include Aligarh Muslim University, Jamia Millia Islamia, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Jodhpur, Lady Shri Ram College, Miranda House, and Gargi College.
Entrance Examination and Application Details
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will oversee the entrance exam for this course, tentatively scheduled for April 17. A record 92,776 students have applied, marking the highest number to date.
Exam Format and Language Options
The exam will be conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format, lasting 3 hours. It will be available in 13 languages and will consist of 181 questions, of which 160 must be answered. The questions will be derived from the Class 12 syllabus.
