Eligibility Criteria

Who Can Apply?


To be eligible for AIBE 20, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:



  • Educational Qualification: A Bachelor of Laws (3-year LLB or 5-year LLB) from a university recognized by the Bar Council of India.

  • Age Limit: There is no age limit for appearing in the AIBE.

  • Enrollment Certificate: Candidates must possess a valid enrollment certificate and must pass the AIBE within two years of enrolling with any State Bar Council.


Importance of Passing AIBE

Passing the AIBE is crucial for practicing law in India. The exam is conducted in an open-book format across 140 centers in 50 cities nationwide. It lasts for 3 hours and 30 minutes and consists of objective-type questions.


Candidates can attempt the AIBE multiple times without any restrictions, but they must pass within two years of their provisional enrollment with the Bar Council.
