The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued new guidelines for candidates appearing for the NEET (UG) exam. Key updates include the necessity of downloading a new admit card and completing biometric verification before entering the exam center. The NTA has implemented enhanced security measures to ensure a smooth examination process. Candidates who cannot complete biometric verification due to technical issues will still be allowed to take the exam, provided they submit a written declaration. The Re-NEET 2026 exam is set for June 21, with specific provisions for candidates with disabilities. Non-compliance with verification procedures may lead to penalties under the relevant act.

Important Updates for NEET (UG) Candidates

NTA Updates: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released updated instructions for candidates preparing for the rescheduled NEET (UG) examination. It is essential for candidates to download a new admit card, as the one issued for the exam initially conducted on May 3 is now invalid. Furthermore, candidates must complete biometric verification prior to entering the examination venue.

To enhance the security and integrity of the exam, the NTA has introduced several new measures.

In a recent announcement on the social media platform 'X', the NTA stated, "Candidates who have already obtained their admit cards for the June 21 NEET-UG exam do not need to download them again. The messages sent via SMS/email/WhatsApp are primarily for those who have yet to download their new admit cards."

The NTA emphasized, "Admit cards from May 3 will not be accepted as many candidates have been assigned new centers in their chosen cities. Downloading and printing the June 21 admit card once is adequate."

Biometric Verification Process

Verification Requirements:

On the exam day, after undergoing security checks (frisking), all candidates must complete biometric verification before entering the exam hall. This will involve fingerprinting and facial recognition, which must be finalized before the exam starts.

Exemption Conditions:

If a candidate is unable to complete biometric verification due to technical issues or other reasons, they will still be allowed to take the exam. However, they must provide a written declaration at the exam center.

Key Reasons for Exemption:

1. Technical failure of the biometric device

2. Poor quality of biometric data

3. Connectivity problems with the UIDAI server

4. Physical inability to provide biometric data

Exam Conduct and Timing

Ensuring a Smooth Exam Experience:

The NTA has assured that candidates will not face interruptions during the biometric verification process while the exam is ongoing. This procedure will be conducted either before the exam starts or after it ends.

The Re-NEET 2026 exam is scheduled for June 21, from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. Candidates with disabilities (PwD/PwBD) who qualify for additional time will have their exam extended until 6:20 PM.

Consequences of Non-Compliance:

The NTA has urged all candidates to cooperate with the exam center staff and security personnel. Refusal to undergo biometric verification without a legitimate reason will be treated as a breach of exam regulations.

In such instances, candidates may face actions under the "Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024."
