The National Testing Agency (NTA) is facing scrutiny once again after the release of the NEET UG 2026 re-exam results. Many students have taken to social media to express that the scores shown on their official scorecards do not match their OMR sheets or the final answer key. Allegations include claims of OMR sheet swapping and sudden changes in scores within a few hours. In response, the NTA has stated that they have investigated these claims and confirmed that the original OMR sheets in their possession are accurate.
NTA's Clarification on OMR Sheets
The NTA explained that the actual OMR sheets were sent to candidates' registered email addresses during the OMR response-key challenge period. The agency asserts that some of the OMR sheets circulating online have been digitally altered or generated using AI technology. They emphasized that the results declared are accurate and warned that creating or sharing fake OMR sheets on social media is a punishable offense under the Public Examinations Act, 2024.
Claims of OMR Sheet Swapping
Reports have surfaced from Dnyaneshwari Pawar, a student from Wadvani, Maharashtra, who claims that the OMR sheet uploaded to the NTA website does not belong to her. Her father, Anil Kumar Pawar, mentioned that they have the original question paper from the exam, leading them to suspect that the uploaded OMR sheet is incorrect. They compared their answers with the NTA's official answer key, which should have resulted in a score of around 702 out of 720, yet the official scorecard reflected only 87 marks.
Technical Glitch Allegations
Another student, Arya Singh from Kanpur, reported a technical issue with her results. She noted that the order of questions on her OMR sheet was initially incorrect, a problem she reported to the NTA. Although the NTA later provided a revised OMR sheet, her score did not change. Arya stated that when she first checked her result around midnight on July 16, it showed 540 marks, but when she checked again two hours later, it had dropped to 167 marks, which is the score currently displayed. She has reached out to the NTA and the Union Education Minister, demanding an investigation and threatening to escalate the issue to higher authorities if necessary.

Details from NTA's Investigation
The NTA indicated that the timestamp on the invigilator's signature on Arya Singh's viral OMR sheet had been altered, while in Lakshya Singh's case, additional answers were digitally inserted. The agency also noted inconsistencies in the claims made by Abhay Yadav. The NTA confirmed that the scores of 167 for Arya Singh, 116 for Lakshya Singh, and 164 for Abhay Yadav are accurate according to official records. They cautioned that creating or tampering with fake OMR sheets, or sharing them on social media, is a punishable offense under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, and legal action will be pursued in such instances.
