Important Update on NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund

If you participated in the NEET UG 2026 examination and have not yet provided your bank account information for a fee refund, there is crucial news for you. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has prolonged the deadline for updating bank details, giving students another opportunity. Initially set to end on July 7, 2026, candidates can now modify or confirm their bank information until 11:50 PM on July 14, 2026.

The NTA has noted that a significant number of students have yet to update their banking details. This extension aims to ensure that all eligible candidates receive their refunds. Therefore, those who have not completed this task should visit the official website and update their bank information within the new deadline.

Why is the NTA issuing refunds?

The NTA canceled the NEET UG 2026 exam, which was originally scheduled for May 3, 2026, due to allegations of a paper leak. A re-examination took place on June 21, 2026. As a result, it was decided to refund the exam fees to candidates who took the May 3 exam. To process the refund, all candidates must provide accurate and active bank account details on the official portal. The NTA has made it easier for candidates to update their bank information to facilitate this refund process.

How many students have updated their bank details?

As per the NTA, 1,028,223 candidates have successfully updated or confirmed their bank account information so far. The refund process for these students has already begun. However, this number is relatively low compared to the total number of candidates, as approximately 22 lakh students appeared for the May 3 exam. This means around 12 lakh candidates still need to update their bank details. Hence, the agency has extended the deadline one last time to July 14, 2026.

Steps to Update Bank Details for NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund

1. To initiate the fee refund, candidates should first visit the official NEET UG 2026 website: neet.nta.nic.in.

2. Click on the link labeled "Final Opportunity to Confirm/Update Bank Account Details for NEET (UG) 2026 Fee Refund" on the homepage.

3. Log in by entering your application number and password (or other required credentials).

4. Complete the two-factor authentication process.

5. Go to the section for "Bank Account Details Confirmation/Updation."

6. Enter your bank account number, bank name, IFSC code, and account holder's name accurately, or verify and correct any pre-filled information.

7. Candidates may also upload a canceled cheque if desired. After confirming all details, submit the form and save the confirmation page for future reference.

Important Considerations for Entering Bank Details

The NTA has advised candidates to be meticulous when entering their bank information. Ensure that the account holder's name matches the bank's records and that the bank account number is accurate. Additionally, double-check the IFSC code and bank name for any errors. Make sure the bank account is active and capable of online transactions, and verify that all spellings are correct. Incorrect or incomplete bank details may result in delays or failures in the refund process.

When can candidates expect to receive their refunds after updating bank details? According to the NTA, the fee refund should be credited to candidates' bank accounts within approximately one week to 15 days after successful updating and verification of bank details. Therefore, candidates are encouraged to update their information promptly rather than waiting until the final deadline.
