NEET UG 2026 Examination Commences
New Delhi: Today marks the day for the NEET UG 2026 examination, with millions of students participating across the nation. This exam is crucial for entry into the medical field and significantly influences the future of the candidates. Just before the exam, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has shared an encouraging message for the candidates, advising them to remain calm, maintain confidence, and trust in their preparation.
Information on Exam Centers
The examination is being conducted at various centers located in 552 cities across India and 14 cities abroad. The admit cards for NEET UG 2026 were released on April 26. The NTA has urged all candidates to adhere to the instructions provided on their hall tickets.
Over 2.27 million candidates from both India and abroad are participating in this examination.
Strict Timing and Entry Regulations
The NEET UG 2026 exam is scheduled from 2 PM to 5 PM. Candidates are advised to report to their exam centers starting at 11 AM. However, entry will not be permitted after 1:30 PM, so students are encouraged to arrive early, considering traffic, weather, and distance.
Dress Code and Religious Accommodations
According to NTA guidelines, candidates should wear simple clothing for the exam. However, students who wear religious attire such as hijabs, kara, or kirpans are allowed to do so, provided they arrive early to complete the verification process.
Discipline During the Examination
All candidates must adhere to strict discipline within the examination hall. Any form of misconduct or attempts to cheat will result in severe consequences. If a student observes any unfair practices, they must report it to the invigilator immediately. Additionally, bringing prohibited items is strictly forbidden.
Attention to Negative Marking
Negative marking is applicable in this exam, so students should answer each question carefully. Each correct answer will earn 4 points, while 1 point will be deducted for incorrect answers. Questions left unanswered will neither gain nor lose points, testing the accuracy of the candidates.
Exam Pattern and Important Rules
NEET UG 2026 will consist of a total of 180 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 180 minutes. There will be 45 questions each from Physics and Chemistry, and 90 questions from Biology. After the exam, candidates may take the question paper with them, but submitting the OMR sheet is mandatory. On average, candidates will have one minute to answer each question.
