Significant Changes for Indian Students in Australia
Indian students pursuing education in Australia are facing a major development. The Australian government has announced a substantial increase in visa fees, making studying there even more expensive. This hike affects both international students and those applying for work visas post-study.
This decision will particularly impact Indian students currently enrolled or planning to obtain degrees from Australian universities. In response, universities and educational institutions in Australia have expressed strong opposition to the government's move.
They argue that this increase will diminish Australia's appeal as a study destination, putting it at a disadvantage compared to other countries. The new fees, announced by the Department of Home Affairs, will take effect from July 1, 2026, without prior consultation with the international education sector.
