GATE 2026 Registration Details



The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has officially launched the registration for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026, starting from August 28, 2025. Candidates interested in applying can do so until September 28, 2025. The examination is scheduled for February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. Key Dates for GATE 2026

The deadline for online registration for the GATE 2026 exam is set for September 28, 2025. Candidates can still apply until October 9, 2025, by paying a late fee. The examination will take place on the specified dates in February 2026.


Application Fees

For Women/SC/ST/PWD Candidates:



  • From August 28 to September 28: ₹1000 per paper

  • From September 29 to October 9: ₹1500 per paper


For All Other Candidates (including foreign nationals):



  • From August 28 to September 28: ₹2000 per paper

  • From September 29 to October 9: ₹2500 per paper


Steps to Apply for GATE 2026


  • Visit the official website gate2026.Iitg.ac.in.

  • Click on the GATE 2026 Registration Link.

  • Create a new account to log in.

  • Complete the application form and upload the necessary documents.

  • Pay the application fee online.

  • After submission, download and print the confirmation page.


Exam Pattern for GATE 2026

The GATE 2026 exam will be conducted in a computer-based format. The total duration of the exam will be 3 hours, during which candidates will answer questions totaling 100 marks.



  • General Aptitude: 15 marks

  • Selected Topic: 85 marks


The question types will include MCQ, MSQ, and NAT. Note that there will be negative marking for incorrect answers in MCQs, while MSQs and NATs will not have negative marking.
