CBSE Mandates Accurate Student Information for Marksheets

Importance of Accurate Student Records

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a directive to all educational institutions, emphasizing the critical need for precise student information, including names and dates of birth, to avoid discrepancies on Class 10 and 12 marksheets.

Verification Process for Student Details

CBSE has mandated that schools ensure the accuracy of student details at every stage, from initial registration to the issuance of admit cards for examinations. This includes opportunities for both schools and parents to verify records from Class 9 through Class 12, allowing for timely corrections.

Schools must maintain accurate records in admission forms, scholar registers, and withdrawal documents. During Class 9 registration, both schools and parents are responsible for verifying and certifying the students' information. After registration, a correction window is available for any necessary adjustments.

Admit Card Verification Before LOC Submission

Schools are required to download registration cards for students to verify their details. Prior to submitting the Class 10 List of Candidates (LOC), schools must thoroughly check the data and confirm it with parents. A correction window remains open even after the LOC submission, allowing for further changes.

Students, parents, and school principals must also verify the information on the admit cards before examinations. An undertaking confirming the accuracy of the details is collected from all relevant parties. Schools can request corrections to demographic details from CBSE even before results are announced.

Multiple Opportunities for Verification

The verification and correction process is reiterated in Classes 11 and 12, providing students and schools with around 20 opportunities to confirm demographic details from Classes 9 to 12. Despite these measures, CBSE still receives numerous requests for corrections post-results, often due to incomplete applications from schools.

CBSE's Stance on Incomplete Documentation

CBSE has identified several issues with correction requests, including missing necessary records or lack of certified documents from previous schools. Many submissions are also found to be illegible or excessively altered. Additionally, delays occur when schools do not respond promptly to requests for further documentation.

Ensuring 100% Accuracy in Student Records

The Board has instructed all schools to maintain 100% accuracy in student demographic details. Strict adherence to CBSE guidelines during registration and LOC submission is mandatory, including verification with parents. Any request for corrections must be accompanied by certified records from all previous schools attended by the student. Incomplete requests will be rejected outright.
