CBSE Issues Strict Guidelines for 2026 Class 10 and 12 Board Exams
New Guidelines for Board Exams
New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released stringent and clear instructions for the 2026 board examinations for classes 10 and 12. Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj stated that the gates of the examination centers will close at 10 AM. Any student arriving after this time will not be permitted to enter, regardless of the reason.
Entry Restrictions After 10 AM
The exams for classes 10 and 12 will commence on February 17 at 10:30 AM. Students are advised to arrive well in advance, ideally by 9:30 AM, to facilitate the verification of admit cards, locating their rooms, and completing other formalities. Schools have been instructed to inform parents and students about this strict deadline. Special attention should be given to traffic, public transport, and distance when planning travel.
Distribution of Question Papers and Reading Time
Question papers will be distributed at 10:15 AM, giving students a 15-minute window to read the paper thoroughly. During this time, students can review all sections, note internal options, and decide the order of solving questions. However, writing answers during this 15-minute period is strictly prohibited. This is designed to help students understand the structure of the paper and mentally prepare.
Bell System During Exams
CBSE has outlined a systematic bell procedure for the examination hall: a long bell will ring at 10:30 AM to signal the start of the exam, and another long bell will indicate the end. Short bells will ring intermittently to announce the time, with a warning bell ringing 15 minutes before the conclusion of the exam.
Special Provisions for PwD Students
Students in the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category will be granted additional time as per CBSE regulations, allowing them to complete their exams without haste. These guidelines apply to both classes 10 and 12. CBSE urges students to adhere to these rules to ensure a smooth examination process. Timely arrival and preparation are crucial.
