CBSE News Update: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced an extension of the deadline for Class 12 students to apply for verification and re-evaluation of their answer sheets. This decision comes after complaints regarding technical issues on the post-result service portal. Students can now submit their applications until midnight on June 7, instead of the previously set deadline of June 6. This change was made in response to difficulties faced by many students in accessing scanned copies of their answer sheets and applying for verification and re-evaluation through the portal launched on June 2.

Announcement from the Board

The board stated in a post on X, 'In the interest of students, CBSE has decided to extend the deadline for submitting applications for verification and re-evaluation of Class 12 board exams, providing students with additional time and support to complete the process.' They further urged students to pay attention to the revised schedule and submit their applications accordingly.

What Students Can Report

On June 2, CBSE opened an online portal for students wishing to verify issues found in the scanned copies of their answer sheets and seek re-evaluation. Students can raise concerns regarding missing pages, unavailable supplementary sheets, omitted maps or graphs, unclear scanned copies, incorrect answer sheets, or any discrepancies related to the question paper set. The portal was launched later than initially planned, as the board had previously indicated that the application process would commence by May 29.

OSM Controversy Looms

This extension comes amid ongoing controversy surrounding CBSE's On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. Many Class 12 students have alleged that the scanned copies of their answer sheets uploaded by the board do not match their handwriting, raising concerns about potential discrepancies during the digital evaluation process.

Demand for In-Depth Investigation

The issue has sparked protests from students and parents, calling for a thorough investigation into the evaluation system. Amid the controversy, CBSE President Rahul Singh and Secretary Himanshu Gupta have been replaced by Prashant Lokhande and Varun Bhardwaj, respectively. Additionally, the Cabinet Secretariat has formed a committee to investigate the procurement of services related to the OSM system and address the concerns raised regarding the evaluation process.
