CBSE Addresses False Hacking Allegations
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has dismissed rumors circulating on social media that its On-Screen Marking (OSM) portal was compromised. The Board emphasized that these allegations are completely unfounded and stem from misleading information. In response to various media reports, CBSE issued an official clarification.
Details of the Allegations
A social media user claimed that the CBSE OSM portal, accessible via the URL cbse.onmarks.co.in, was hacked on February 26, 2026. This assertion quickly spread across multiple platforms, leading to confusion among students and their parents.
Clarification from CBSE
CBSE clarified that the mentioned URL does not belong to the official examination evaluation system. Instead, it is a testing site utilized for internal assessments and system evaluations. The Board made it clear that this testing portal does not store any actual evaluation data, student grades, or sensitive information, making hacking or data breaches impossible.
Security of the Actual OSM System
The Board reassured that the genuine OSM system, which is responsible for evaluating answer sheets, is entirely secure. No security flaws or cyberattack incidents have been reported within this primary system.
CBSE has implemented stringent cybersecurity measures and monitoring systems to protect the evaluation process and prevent unauthorized access.
The Board reiterated that the legitimate On-Screen Marking system remains secure, with no reported security concerns. A comprehensive cybersecurity framework and monitoring system are in place to ensure the system's integrity and prevent unauthorized access.
Additionally, CBSE highlighted that this system is designed to enhance the transparency and efficiency of the evaluation process, featuring a robust grievance redressal mechanism to address issues faced by students and educators promptly.
