CBSE Class 12 Results Delayed Due to Technical Issues with On-Screen Marking

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is experiencing delays in announcing Class 12 results due to technical issues with the newly implemented On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. Approximately 1.8 million students are anxiously awaiting their results, which were initially expected between May 10 and May 15. However, challenges in the evaluation process have led to a revised timeline, with results now anticipated between May 15 and May 20. The Board has resorted to manual evaluation for some answer sheets and has formed special teams to expedite the process. Students can expect to access their results via the DigiLocker app and the official CBSE website.

Introduction to the Evaluation Process

This year, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has adopted the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system to modernize the evaluation process. This innovative approach involves scanning answer sheets for digital assessment on computers.

Rising Anxiety Among Students

Approximately 1.8 million students who participated in the Class 12 examinations are increasingly anxious about the announcement of their results. Initially, there were expectations that results would be released this week, but recent updates indicate potential delays due to technical challenges.

Technical Challenges with OSM

The OSM system was introduced to enhance accuracy and speed in result preparation. However, it has encountered significant issues, causing a slowdown in the evaluation process. Reports suggest that technical difficulties have arisen during the uploading of answer sheets, leading to unexpected delays.

Return to Manual Evaluation

In a surprising turn of events, the Board has reverted to manual evaluation for some answer sheets. Sources indicate that around 800 answer sheets, particularly for subjects like English and Economics, could not be scanned successfully and are now being assessed by hand.

Impact of Internet Connectivity

Poor internet connectivity in remote areas has significantly hindered the OSM's effectiveness. Examination centers in these locations have struggled with low internet speeds, preventing successful scanning and uploading of answer sheets.

Expected Result Declaration Timeline

While no official date has been confirmed, it is anticipated that results may be delayed until after May 15. Initially expected between May 10 and May 15, sources now suggest a new window of May 15 to May 20 for result announcements.

CBSE's Response to Delays

To address these delays, CBSE has mobilized five special teams, each consisting of three experienced teachers, to expedite the manual evaluation process. Their goal is to finalize the data by the end of the week.

Accessing Results via DigiLocker

An update regarding the results has been shared on the DigiLocker app, generating excitement among students. Once results are released, students will be able to download their digital mark sheets from DigiLocker, and a link will also be available on the official CBSE website.
