New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a significant update regarding the board examinations for the year 2026. The dates for one exam each for Class 10 and Class 12 have been altered, which were originally scheduled for March 3, 2026.


According to the board, this decision was made due to administrative reasons. Students and schools have been assured that there will be no changes to the exam dates for any other subjects.


Reasons Behind the Date Change

In its official notice, CBSE stated that the date changes were made for administrative purposes. The board clarified that this decision was taken with the students' best interests in mind to ensure smooth conduct of the examinations. Additionally, it was mentioned that the complete timetable remains unchanged apart from the revised dates.


Revised Exam Dates for Class 10

The exams for Class 10 subjects that were initially set for March 3, 2026, will now take place on March 11, 2026. This includes various language and optional subjects, providing students with extra time for preparation. The board has advised students to adjust their study plans according to the new date.


Changes for Class 12 Students

For Class 12, the Legal Studies exam that was scheduled for March 3, 2026, has been rescheduled to April 10, 2026. This change represents a delay of over a month. The board has confirmed that no other subject exam dates for Class 12 have been altered, and all remaining exams will proceed as per the original schedule.


Subjects Affected by the Date Change

The subjects for Class 10 that have had their exam dates changed include Tibetan, German, NCC, Bhoti, Bodo, Tangkhul, Japanese, Bhutia, Spanish, Kashmiri, Mizo, Bahasa Melayu, and Elements of Bookkeeping and Accountancy. For Class 12, only the Legal Studies exam date has been rescheduled.


Admit Cards and Important Advice for Students

CBSE has informed schools that admit cards will be issued according to the revised timetable. The new exam dates will also be printed on the admit cards. Schools have been instructed to promptly communicate this information to students and parents.
