Implementation of On-Screen Marking

This year, CBSE introduced the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system for the first time, which the board claimed would enhance transparency and speed in the evaluation process. In response to the controversy surrounding the 12th-grade results and the OSM evaluation system, CBSE issued an official statement. Decline in Pass Percentage

This year, the pass percentage for CBSE Class 12 has dropped to 85.2%, marking the lowest rate in the past seven years. The board's criteria for passing clearly state that students must achieve a minimum of 33% marks separately in both theoretical and practical exams to pass in any subject.

Re-evaluation Process to Begin on May 19

CBSE has announced that the re-evaluation process for the 2026 Class 12 results will commence on May 19. Students who believe their scores are lower than expected must first apply for a photocopy of their evaluated answer sheets. After reviewing the photocopy, they can apply for verification or re-evaluation of specific answers.

The board has instructed candidates to complete the process within the official deadlines and pay the required application fees. CBSE also clarified that corrective actions would be taken if any discrepancies are found during the re-evaluation.

What About Students Who Did Not Pass?
