Bihar Government Launches Monthly Allowance for Unemployed Graduates
Bihar Unemployed Graduate Scheme 2025
In a significant move ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has introduced a new initiative aimed at supporting unemployed graduates in the state. Young individuals aged 20 to 25 who are currently not engaged in any employment or self-employment will be eligible to receive a monthly stipend of ₹1,000 from the government, with this financial aid available for up to two years.
Overview of the Scheme
The primary goal of this initiative, as articulated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, is to offer financial assistance to youth while they prepare for competitive examinations and pursue their studies. He emphasized that without achieving self-reliance, young people may struggle to concentrate on their preparations. This initiative expands upon the existing Chief Minister's Nischay Self-Help Allowance Scheme.
Announcement via Social Media
The Chief Minister shared details of this scheme on the social media platform X, highlighting that since the establishment of the new government in November 2005, the focus has been on providing government jobs and empowering youth. He mentioned a target of creating 10 million job opportunities for young people over the next five years, with plans for significant job creation in both government and private sectors. To support this goal, skill development training is being offered to enhance employability.
Details of the Monthly Allowance
Kumar expressed his satisfaction in announcing the expansion of the Chief Minister's Self-Help Allowance Scheme, which was previously available only to intermediate graduates. Now, it will also benefit unemployed graduates in Arts, Science, and Commerce. Graduates aged 20-25 who are not currently studying or employed in any sector will receive the allowance of ₹1,000 per month for a maximum of two years.
The Chief Minister hopes that this financial support will enable young individuals to pursue necessary training and prepare for competitive exams, ultimately securing their futures. This forward-thinking initiative aims to maximize employment opportunities for the youth in Bihar, fostering self-reliance and skill development, which will contribute positively to the state's and the nation's growth.
