On May 19, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) is set to announce the results for the 2023 state Madhyamik or Class 10 exams. The time for the declaration of results will be revealed shortly. Once released, students who took the Madhyamik exam can view their results on the WBBSE websites, wbbse.wb.gov.in and wbresults.nic.in. The WB Madhyamik exam was held from February 23 to March 4, in a single shift, across several locations throughout the state. The exam lasted for three hours, with an additional 15 minutes given to students to review the question paper. The West Bengal class 10 board examination carries a total of 800 marks, and students must score at least 34% (272 marks) to pass.

WBBSE President Ramanuj Ganguly previously mentioned that approximately 6,98,628 students were expected to sit for the West Bengal Class 10 exams. To prevent misconduct during the exams, CCTV monitoring was set up in the examination halls, while police officers were stationed outside the exam centres.

Last year's Madhyamik results, released on June 3, showed an overall pass rate of 86.60% for class 10, with boys performing better than girls. Specifically, 88.59% of boys passed the exam, while 85% of girls passed with qualifying grades.

This year's Madhyamik history exam paper sparked social media debate due to a question about Mahatma Gandhi. Examinees were given three rationales to choose from to answer the question on whether Mahatma Gandhi always disassociated himself from India's labour movement. These rationales included Mahatma Gandhi always representing the mill owners' lobby, wanting to avoid a clash between labour and capital, and being concerned about the movement's consequences for the law and order situation.
