Rani Vidya Devi received her education from Loreto Convent Darjeeling, Calcutta University and Delhi School of Economics. He had worked with the Tea Board of India.

She was very simple, gentle and soft spoken. Along with Hindi, he had an amazing command over Bengali, French, Nepali, Spanish and English languages. When I was writing my book on Rambagh, he told those stories related to Rambagh which made the book interesting.

Rani Vidya Devi's closest friend Nirmala Rarelji told that her biggest feature was her non-political nature, due to which people could easily speak to her. She stood firm in her principles. The management of MGD Girls School said that she was born on 3 October 1942. She was married in 1983 to former Maharaja Jai ​​Singh, son of Maharaja Sawai Mansingh II.

Gayatri Devi was very fond of him. She would often praise him saying that Vidya's calm nature, sensitivity and calmness would make her more influential than me. Rani Vidya became Chairperson of the Executive Committee of MGD in 1989 and President of the Board of Governors in 2009.
