UP Summer Vacations 2023 Date Announced, Schools To Close From May 20

This decision has been made in response to the prevailing heatwave conditions. The summer vacations in Uttar Pradesh are scheduled to begin on May 20. All educational institutions affiliated with the UP Board will observe summer vacations until June 15. The board has issued an order, instructing all affiliated and recognized schools in Noida, Lucknow, and other cities and towns of Uttar Pradesh to comply with this notification.

Initially, the board had announced the summer vacations to be from May 21 to June 20. However, this announcement was later canceled due to the severe heatwave conditions in the state. Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, summer vacations for students commenced on April 21, 2023. This decision was made in light of the scorching heatwaves experienced in the financial capital of India. Schools in Maharashtra, except for Vidarbha, are scheduled to reopen on June 15, 2023. However, in Vidarbha district, schools will resume classes for students on June 30.

Moving on to other states, in Jharkhand, summer vacation will be observed from May 21 to June 10, with the upcoming academic year 2023-24 set to commence on June 12. In Madhya Pradesh, schools have been closed since the beginning of May and will reopen on June 15, marking the start of the academic session on June 16. In Odisha, summer vacations began early on May 5 and will conclude on June 18. Due to extreme heatwave conditions, the Odisha Education Board has instructed schools and anganwadi facilities across the state to conduct morning sessions from 7:00 am to 11:00 am.

In Kerala, summer vacation began on April 2, and the academic year 2023-24 is scheduled to begin on June 1. In West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, considering the persisting heatwave, has ordered the closure of schools, universities, and institutions starting from May 2. Initially, the summer vacation in West Bengal was supposed to start on May 24, but due to severe heat conditions, the education board promptly made the decision to revise the vacation schedule.
