Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the issue of Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) reservation in All India Medical Education Quota and directed the concerned ministries to resolve it on priority basis. Sources gave this information.

Sources said that in the meeting held on Monday, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Education, Health and Family Welfare, Law and Justice and Social Welfare Secretaries along with other senior officials also attended and two quota issue was discussed.

There has been a long-standing demand from the medical candidates to give OBC reservation in the All India quota of medical education. There have been many cases in different courts of the country but this matter is pending for a long time. A source said that in the review meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his desire that the issue of OBC reservation in the All India Quota (AIQ) of medical education be resolved by the concerned ministries on a priority basis. According to sources, the Prime Minister also asked the Health Ministry to review the status of implementation of EWS reservation for medical education by various states.
