Overview of NEET PG 2026 Examination

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) conducted the NEET PG exam on August 30, 2026. Following the conclusion of the exam, millions of candidates are eagerly awaiting the release of the answer key. It is anticipated that the NBEMS will soon make the answer key available on its official website.

Matching Answers with Official Key

Once the answer key is published, candidates will be able to compare their responses with the officially accepted answers. This will assist them in estimating their potential scores. However, it is important to note that the official evaluation released by NBEMS will be considered valid for final results and scores.

Exam Pattern Changes for NEET PG 2026

This year's NEET PG exam saw a reduction in the number of questions, with a total of 180 multiple-choice questions being asked. The maximum score for the entire paper was set at 720 marks, down from the previous pattern which included 200 questions.

Candidates can estimate their potential scores based on the number of correct and incorrect answers.

Scoring System Explained

In NEET PG 2026, each correct answer is awarded 4 marks, while there is a penalty of 1 mark for incorrect answers. No marks will be awarded or deducted for questions left unanswered. To calculate potential scores, candidates can subtract the negative marking from the total marks obtained for correct answers.

Tie-Breaking Criteria for Candidates

In cases where two or more candidates achieve the same score, tie-breaking rules will be applied to determine their ranks. The candidate with fewer incorrect answers will be prioritized. If there is still a tie, the number of incorrect answers in different sections will be compared, starting with Sections A, B, C, D, and E.

If a tie persists, the candidate with higher total marks in MBBS professional exams will be favored. If all criteria are equal, the older candidate will receive a better rank.

Candidate Participation and Technical Issues

According to updates from NBEMS, a total of 265,980 candidates were registered for NEET PG 2026, which was conducted across 1,111 exam centers in 338 cities nationwide. Out of these, 263,535 candidates successfully completed the exam.

However, due to technical issues related to electricity at two exam centers in the Sitapura area of Jaipur, the exam could not be completed for some candidates. As a result, a re-examination has been scheduled for 2,445 affected candidates.

Re-Exam Scheduled for Jaipur Candidates

The re-examination for candidates in Jaipur who faced technical difficulties will take place on September 5, 2026, at 3 PM. This re-exam will be conducted specifically for those affected at the two Sitapura exam centers. Candidates are advised to stay updated with the official notifications from NBEMS regarding any further information and updates related to the exam.
