NCC Maharashtra Launches 'Uniform to Profession' Initiative for Youth Employment
Introduction to the Initiative
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Maharashtra has introduced a new initiative named "Uniform to Profession" as part of the Prime Minister's Internship Scheme. This program aims to enhance the skills of young individuals and connect them with job opportunities. Placement camps are scheduled to take place in Pune and Mumbai on June 15 and 16, 2026.
Vision Behind 'Uniform to Profession'
The 'Uniform to Profession' initiative is designed to utilize the discipline, leadership, and values that cadets acquire during their NCC training to help them secure employment in the private sector.
NCC Maharashtra's Extensive Network
NCC Maharashtra operates a vast network that includes over 2,000 educational institutions across all 36 districts, engaging around 150,000 cadets. This initiative aligns with the national vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the commitment of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to create professional opportunities for the youth.
Placement Camps in Pune and Mumbai
In the first phase of this initiative, a collaboration has been formed with Lemon Tree Hotels to conduct placement camps in Pune and Mumbai. These camps will provide internship opportunities for 150 young individuals, specifically targeting NCC cadets from the Senior Division and Senior Wing, as well as ex-cadets who have completed their education.
Details of the Camps
Pune Camp: The initial placement camp will occur in Pune on June 15, 2026, offering 50 positions.
Mumbai Camp: The subsequent camp will be held in Mumbai on June 16, 2026, with 100 positions available.
Training Areas for Interns
The internship will provide practical experience in various office and hotel operations. Selected candidates will work in key departments such as:
- Human Resources
- Sales and Marketing
- Front Office Operations
- Finance and Accounts
- Food and Beverage Services
- Purchase and Stores
Benefits of the Internship
The internship aims to equip participants with essential work skills. According to the Prime Minister's Internship Scheme, selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend, a joining incentive, mentorship from experienced professionals, and comprehensive training to enhance their career prospects.
Support for Female Cadets
Major General Vivek Tyagi, ADG of NCC Maharashtra, emphasized that special arrangements have been made to promote the participation of female cadets. The Maharashtra government will provide safe accommodation and additional financial support for girl cadets traveling from outside the region, ensuring a secure and nurturing learning environment.
