The Patwari Recruitment Exam 2023 in Madhya Pradesh sparked a major controversy when allegations of irregularities surfaced. Conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB) on April 26, the exam came under scrutiny due to an unusual occurrence – seven out of the top ten toppers hailed from the same examination center, the NRI College of Engineering and Management in Gwalior.

As the results were announced last month, questions immediately arose concerning the authenticity of the selection process. Poonam Rajawat, who secured the third position among the toppers, became the focal point of this controversy. Her performance was called into question as she reportedly struggled to answer basic exam-related questions, raising further doubts about the exam's credibility.

Poonam expressed her happiness at achieving a top rank but revealed that her family was shocked by the allegations of a scam surrounding the results. The situation had taken a toll on her mental well-being, pushing her into depression.

Poonam claimed to have been preparing for the Patwari exam for three years, initially seeking help from online coaching before switching to offline classes. However, during the interview, she appeared unable to recall all eight subjects covered in the exam, casting doubt on the legitimacy of her rank. Moreover, when asked about the capital of Madhya Pradesh, she incorrectly answered "Delhi."

Poonam also mentioned appearing for other competitive exams, including the SSC MTS Exam, where she claimed to be on the 'wait list' after not being selected. However, it was later discovered that there is no waiting list for the SSC MTS Exam, raising further concerns about the accuracy of her statements. She struggled to answer various questions related to her exam and general knowledge.

Due to the stress and depression she was experiencing, Poonam declined to address any further inquiries about the exam irregularities, if any, and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation in that direction. The situation remains contentious, with calls for a transparent inquiry into the Patwari Recruitment Exam 2023.
