Madhya Pradesh Extends Summer Vacation For Primary Schools Till June 30

The Department of School Education in Madhya Pradesh has decided to extend the summer vacation for schools due to the prevailing heatwave conditions. According to a tweet by Madhya Pradesh Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar, primary schools for Classes 1 to 5 will reopen on July 1, while classes from 6 to 12 will resume tomorrow, June 20. Moreover, Parmar mentioned that classes for students in grades 6 to 12 will be held in the morning shift from June 20 to June 30. Starting from July 1, all schools in the state, including government, private, aided, and non-aided schools, will revert back to their regular schedules.

Previously, schools in Madhya Pradesh were scheduled to reopen for all classes on June 20. The government has also instructed schools to make necessary arrangements for first-aid measures and rehydrating solutions to ensure the well-being of students and staff.

Additionally, the Class 5 exams will proceed as per the prescribed timetable. Parmar tweeted, "Considering the adverse impact on students' health caused by the scorching heat and rising temperatures, it has been decided to extend the summer vacation. Primary schools from Class 1 to 5 will open on July 1, 2023, and classes in schools from Class 6 to 12 will be conducted in the morning shift from June 20 to June 30. Starting from July 1, 2023, all schools will operate according to the regular timetable."

In a similar vein, Odisha has also announced an extension of the summer vacation due to the recent increase in temperature. The Odisha government declared that both public and private schools in the state will resume on June 21 instead of June 19. Previously, Chhattisgarh extended the summer vacation until June 26, with schools originally scheduled to reopen on June 16. The Uttar Pradesh government also prolonged the summer break until June 26 due to the ongoing heatwave.
