The Mumbai Police have arrested five individuals, including a school principal and two teachers, in connection with the leak of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) mathematics exam paper for Class 12 exams conducted by the Maharashtra board. The question paper was shared on social media half an hour prior to the exam's commencement, which took place on March 3. After a student received the mathematics question paper prior to the exam, the Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police initiated an investigation, and a case was registered in Dadar, Mumbai.

According to the police, a woman teacher at a school in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, was found to be responsible for the paper leak. The teacher, along with a driver, opened the packet containing the question papers before reaching the school and clicked photos of the questions. The teacher sent the photos to some school officials and also to her younger sister, who sold the leaked paper at Rs 10,000 per piece to others. Following the leak, the police arrested five people, including teachers Sachin Mahunur, Kiran Dighe, and Archana Bambare, principal Bhausaheb Amrute, and driver Vaibhav Taste, from the Matoshri Bhagubai Bambare College in Ahmednagar.

The police are currently scanning the WhatsApp chats and the Call Detail Record (CDR) of the accused. The arrests were made after the police questioned two students, one of whom was found with the leaked mathematics question paper on his mobile phone. The student informed the police that he had received the paper from his cousin in Ahmednagar. The police inspector Shyam Nair said that the police tracked the college from where the question paper was leaked and arrested those involved in the malpractice.

The accused are being brought to Mumbai and will be presented before the court on March 9th.
