On Saturday, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced that the government will be implementing a policy to prevent private schools from arbitrarily selling books to students, which will help provide relief to parents. The policy will establish fixed rates and specify the quality of the books.

This announcement was made during a meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee in Faridabad where 14 complaints were placed on the table, out of which 12 were resolved. One complaint about private schools charging exorbitant rates for books was addressed by the Chief Minister. He directed the Secondary Education Director Anshaj Singh to formulate a policy to prevent financial losses to parents. He also ordered private schools to charge fees according to the prescribed slab. Another complaint was about the size of the plots allotted earlier under the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP).

The Chief Minister directed concerned officers to settle these disputes and formulate a policy to re-allot plots of the right size according to the demand of the plot holders whose plots are less than or more than 20 percent in size. This will provide relief to all such plot holders in the state. The Chief Minister spoke with the HSVP Chief Administrator over the phone to ensure that the policy is implemented promptly.
