GATE 2025 Key Dates and Registration Information

  • Registration Start Date: August 24, 2024
  • Registration End Date: September 26, 2024
  • Exam Dates: February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025
  • Results Declaration: March 19, 2025

The registration form will be available on the new official website for GATE 2025 at gate2025.iitr.ac.in. Make sure to apply within the registration period to avoid any last-minute issues.

Eligibility Criteria for GATE 2025

Candidates are eligible to take the GATE 2025 if they meet the following criteria:

  • Undergraduate Students: Those in their third or higher years of an undergraduate degree program.
  • Graduates: Candidates who have completed a government-approved degree program in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities.

GATE 2025 Exam Format and Details

  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Number of Test Papers: 30 (including full and sectoral papers)
  • Exam Sections: General Aptitude (GA) and the candidate’s chosen subject(s)
  • Types of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT)

Important Exam Guidelines

  1. Number of Papers: Candidates can appear for up to two test papers. Each candidate must submit only one application. If opting for a second paper, it should be included in the original application.
  2. Multiple Applications: If multiple applications are submitted, only one will be considered, and the remaining applications will be rejected without a refund of the application fee.
  3. Negative Marking:
    • MCQs: One-third mark deduction for each incorrect one-mark MCQ; two-thirds mark deduction for each incorrect two-mark MCQ.
    • MSQs and NATs: No negative marking for incorrect answers, and no partial marks are awarded for MSQs.

Exam Language and Marking Scheme

  • Language: The test papers will be administered in English.
  • Total Marks: Each GATE paper carries 100 marks.
  • General Aptitude (GA): Common to all papers, carrying 15 marks.
  • Specific Syllabus: The remaining 85 marks cover the subject-specific syllabus.
