The government is going to invest Rs 1873 crore during the current financial year on developing the infrastructure of education sector in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Infrastructure of 10 new degree colleges will also be prepared in the militant and backward areas of the state. During the year 2021-22, about 523 crore rupees will be spent more in the education sector as compared to the previous financial year.

According to the Education Department, 245 construction works will be completed in the entire state during the current financial year. These include model schools, new rooms for classrooms, toilets and smart classrooms. Apart from this, buildings and other structures of 10 new degree colleges will also be prepared in terrorism affected and backward areas. These colleges are at Banihal, Kupwara, Gool, Kilautran, Mahair, Kalakot, Hadipora, Singpora, Vilgam and Padar. Apart from these, 108 additional rooms will also be built in existing colleges. A science laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art equipment will also be built in these 10 colleges.

Apart from this, 1200 class rooms will also be converted into smart class rooms equipped with information technology. In order to teach different types of skills to the students in the colleges, a skill center will also be set up in each college.

He informed that during the current financial year, in addition to making 10 thousand students skilled under the Skill Efficiency Training SET Scheme, 382 CALs (Computer Aided Learning Centers) will also be set up in 382 identified primary schools across the state at a cost of 19.10 crores. . 77 vocational labs will also be set up in high and higher secondary schools at a cost of 3.85 crore.

He informed that construction of hostels under construction at identified places for girl students will also be completed this year at a cost of Rs 114.14 crore. About 114.14 crores is estimated to be spent on these. Apart from this, buildings of 40 Kasturba Gandhi Balik Vidyalayas will also be constructed in the current financial year. 43.33 crores will be spent on these.

According to the Department of Education, government schools and colleges across the state will be completely rejuvenated this year. All the basic facilities of education will be available in them. Further work is being carried out on the basis of receiving continuous feedback from each District Magistrate, District Education Officer and officials of Higher Education Department in this context.
