On Friday, students and activists held a protest at Delhi University's Arts Faculty, alleging that students were harassed during the 'Shruti' festival at Indraprastha College for Women and were manhandled and detained by police. The students have demanded the resignation of principal Poonam Kumria, alleging that some unidentified men trespassed into the college, shouted slogans, and harassed women during the festival. The students organized an "Azadi March" against repeated incidents of harassment on campus, with various student organizations participating, including the Left-affiliated All India Students' Association (AISA) and Krantikari Yuva Sangathan (KYS). However, the police claim that those protesting were peacefully detained and removed from the area.

In response, AISA has accused ACP (Civil Lines) Satender Yadav of harassing and manhandling Anjali, AISA DU secretary, during the Azadi March. AISA has demanded the immediate termination of Satender Yadav for his actions. During the protest, students held placards that called for strict action against the hooligans, police, and DU authorities. The police have registered an FIR and arrested seven people under IPC sections 337 and 188 in connection with the incident.

The police have stated that there was an excess crowd near the college gate during the festival, and some students fell down in the process. They claim that some overzealous students started to enter the college in a hurry, putting heavy pressure on the gates. However, the students have alleged that the police are not taking their complaints seriously and are instead detaining them.
