Delhi govt conducts survey on social, emotional skills of students

The Bihar government has launched a program called 'Didi ki library' to promote reading habits among children in villages.

According to an official circular dated Wednesday, the Delhi government is conducting a survey on social and emotional skills among teenage students in 75 state-run schools in the city. The survey began on Thursday and will end on May 6, targeting students aged between 15 years-and-three months and 16 years and two months (as of April 12). The NGO Dream a Dream is conducting the survey through data collection by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The schools have been asked to nominate a teacher to coordinate and cooperate with the NGO, with no foreign funding allowed without prior approval of the DoE and following the government of India's guidelines.

This survey is one of the first international efforts to develop a comprehensive set of metrics around social and emotional skills to enhance policies to improve young people's development and well-being, according to officials. The assessment aims to gather empirical evidence on students' social and emotional skills and their relevance to various life outcomes while providing reliable insights. The survey will target students (15 years old), teachers, principals, and parents, with the main study scheduled for April-May 2023, following a field trial conducted last year in May 2022.
