BCI's Role in CLAT 2024:
The Bar Council of India (BCI) will conduct CLAT 2024 in multiple regional languages. The BCI has responded to a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) seeking CLAT 2024 to be held in all regional languages listed in the Constitution’s Eighth Schedule, rather than just in English. The BCI has emphasized that the arrangement among the NLUs for conducting CLAT has no statutory recognition, and it is the "sole interested statutory body in the field of legal education." However, it currently lacks a role or supervision in the admission test.
These updates and changes reflect the evolving landscape of legal education and entrance examinations in India, offering candidates more options and opportunities in their pursuit of a legal career.
