The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to implement several changes to accommodate students in the fast-paced world and keep up with the times. In addition to adopting the New Education Policy (NEP 2020), CBSE intends to promote vocational education and skill development training among its students, starting with teaching coding and artificial intelligence (AI) from Classes 6 to 8. This is a significant shift as courses focusing on skill education previously began only in the ninth grade.

CBSE is offering a compilation of 33 subjects, including data science, artificial intelligence, Khadi Kashmiri Embroidery, Augmented Reality (AR), financial literacy, coding, and satellite applications. These modules are expected to take between 12 and 15 hours, and the time between practical work and theoretical learning will be split in a ratio of 70:30. Microsoft has been roped in to develop the coding syllabus for CBSE to ensure that students obtain an excellent foundation in coding and AI.

As part of the NEP, CBSE seeks to emphasise mathematics and computational thinking more during the school years, starting from classes 6 to 8. Meanwhile, CBSE is expected to announce the results for the board examinations of classes 10th and 12th in May 2023. Exams for these classes were conducted from February through April, starting on February 15, and ending on March 21 and April 5 for classes 10 and 12, respectively. This year, approximately 38 lakh students took the CBSE class 10th and 12th exams.

While the evaluation of class 10 answer sheets was completed on April 16th, the evaluation of class 12 answer sheets was completed by the last week of April. CBSE is likely to release the Class 10 and 12 results on the same day, although there may be a few hours' difference. The official date for the results has not been announced yet, but CBSE will announce the date and time on its social media pages before the declaration.
