Understanding the New Examination Structure

Students preparing for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exams, particularly those in Class 10, have numerous queries regarding the upcoming dual examination system set for 2026. Parents are equally concerned about how these two board exams will be conducted and what they will entail. To address these concerns, CBSE is organizing a webinar aimed at clarifying the entire process and resolving any confusion. This initiative is part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which mandates the introduction of two board exams.

Where to Watch the Webinar?

The board has announced that a nationwide webinar will take place on November 20, 2025. Millions of students and their parents who are set to take the board exams can participate. This session will provide them with a comprehensive understanding of the dual board exam system and answer many of their questions. The webinar will be live-streamed on the official CBSE YouTube channel, @cbsehq1905, starting at 10 AM.

Opportunity to Improve Marks

In June 2025, CBSE revealed that students would be allowed to take two board exams starting from the next academic session. This change offers students the chance to improve their scores without having to wait an entire year. If a student performs poorly in the first exam, they can prepare thoroughly and retake the exam to enhance their marks. However, the second exam is entirely optional, meaning students can choose to skip it if they wish.

Exam Schedule

According to the schedule released by CBSE, the Class 10 board exams will commence on February 17, 2026, and will continue until March 10. This first exam is mandatory for all students. Following this, those who are dissatisfied with their results will have the opportunity to sit for the second board exam in May. The final mark sheet will be prepared based on the higher scores from both exams, and students can select up to three subjects for the second exam.
