Due to the scorching heat wave, Patna recently recorded the season's highest temperature of 44.1 degrees Celsius, while Sheikhpura district topped the list at 44.4 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. The district administration responded to the situation by issuing an order directing all schools in Patna to conclude their classes by 10.45 am starting from Wednesday. Additionally, the districts of Banka, Jamui, Nawada, Khagaria, and Rohtas also experienced high temperatures ranging from 43.2 degrees Celsius to 44.4 degrees Celsius.

The Patna District Magistrate, Chandra Sekhar Singh, issued a statement saying, "The district administration prohibits academic activities for all classes (including pre-schools and anganwadi centers) after 10.45 am in all schools of the district." The order will take effect from April 19th, and the school authorities are required to adjust their schedules accordingly. The Indian Meteorological Department issued an 'orange' alert for Patna, Banka, Jamui, Nawada, Aurangabad, Supaul, and other districts for two days starting from Tuesday, warning of severe heat wave conditions. Additionally, a yellow warning was also issued for several other districts. The IMD categorizes weather warnings into four colour codes: green (no action needed), yellow (watch and stay updated), orange (be prepared), and red (take action).

People are urged to stay hydrated and avoid exposure to the heat, according to a senior official of the Bihar Disaster Management Department.
