The QS World University Rankings: Europe 2024 has unveiled its top institutions, with the University of Oxford securing the coveted first position, boasting a perfect score of 100. Following closely are Switzerland's ETH Zurich and the University of Cambridge from the UK, with scores of 99.4 and 98.7, respectively.

Continuing the Rankings

The list continues with the University of Edinburgh at the sixth position (Score: 96.5), followed by Paris-based Université PSL (Score: 96.2), The University of Manchester (Score: 94.6) in eighth place, EPFL from Lausanne at ninth (Score: 93.2), and King's College London ranking tenth (Score: 93.1).

Diversity in University Count

The rankings encompassed a total of 688 universities. Among these, the United Kingdom boasts the highest representation, with a staggering 107 universities featured. Conversely, Turkey and Germany have the least number of institutions, with Turkey accounting for approximately 73, and Germany featuring 53 institutions.

Factors Influencing Rankings

These university rankings are determined based on various factors, including global recognition, research excellence, teaching resources, international engagement, and employment outcomes.

UK Dominance

Notably, seven of the top ten universities in Europe are located in the United Kingdom, underscoring the country's prominence in higher education.

Expanded Listing

This edition of the QS World University Rankings marks the first time the rankings have covered 688 institutions spanning across 42 member countries of the Council of Europe, providing a comprehensive overview of higher education excellence across the continent.
