Uttar Pradesh Schools to Implement APAAR IDs for Students
Introduction to APAAR IDs
The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has released crucial guidelines for educational institutions regarding the establishment of APAAR IDs for students in grades 9 to 12. The board's objective is to ensure that as many students as possible have their APAAR IDs generated and recorded prior to the registration deadline. Importantly, students lacking an APAAR ID will still be able to register for board examinations without any hindrance. The APAAR ID serves to securely manage students' educational records in a digital format, acting as a unique identifier for future academic pursuits, documentation, and scholarship applications.
Understanding APAAR ID
What is an APAAR ID?
APAAR, which stands for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry, is a distinctive 12-digit identifier assigned to students, functioning as their digital academic identity. This ID remains applicable even if a student transfers between schools, colleges, or states.
The APAAR ID allows for the digital consolidation of a student's academic records, enabling secure storage of important documents such as marksheets and transfer certificates (TC) on platforms like DigiLocker, ensuring easy access when required.
Benefits of APAAR ID
Support for Admissions and Scholarships
The APAAR ID simplifies the process of viewing and verifying academic records during admissions for higher education. This digital identity is also beneficial for scholarship applications. Furthermore, students can store certificates related to sports and extracurricular activities alongside their academic records.
Parental Consent for APAAR ID Creation
Requirements for Generating an APAAR ID
To create an APAAR ID for minor students, parental or guardian consent is essential. School administrations are tasked with collaborating with parents to facilitate this process. Required information may include the student's name, date of birth, gender, parents' names, mobile number, and Aadhaar details.
Students can also generate their APAAR ID through DigiLocker. To do this, they need to log in to DigiLocker and select the 'APAAR ID' option under 'Search Documents.' After entering the necessary details and verifying via OTP, the ID can be generated. Alternatively, if created through the school, the consent process must be completed, and the school will input the required information into the UDISE+ portal for verification. It is important to note that students will not face any obstacles in UP Board registration or examination applications due to the absence of an APAAR ID.
